Using leftover fabric from the quilted wallet (which is on hold until I find a zipper), I've made this little card purse.
And inside...
Will be suitable for a business card holder, train card, office swipe card etc etc
Lessons learnt - don't forget to trim the corners before turning it inside out. My corners have ended up a bit rounded and quite uneven.

Purse #2
I think this one is a huge improvement on the first.
Sharper corners, stiffer fabric and neater top-stitching.
The hardest part of these purses is sewing across the corners on the inside, and making sure that the stitching is straight and even. I think I have got it figured, but its still very fiddley.

Progress on Quilted Wallet
With a little help from Ghillie...
I have made it through part 1 (hopefully the hardest part is now behind me). The quilted exterior is finished... but not sure if it will be big enough.
Lesson 1 learnt
Cut LONGER strips than you need (not the exact length required)
Here is progress pic number 1

Purse #1

I'm pretty happy with this first attempt. The corners are not perfectly square, and the material is a little soft so it collapses a little, but overall its quite cute.
Now to find a use for it...

Almost ready...
Having chosen my fabric, I am close to being ready to start. I was kidding myself about starting with an easier project. I don't think I have the patience, knowing that this project is sitting here waiting I just want to give it a try. Here is my selection:
I'm not usually a blue person, but the pattern really caught my eye. The dark blue (corduroy) was an easy choice, and after about 20 minutes looking for another pattern that would compliment it (without clashing) we settled on a plain light blue. At least this way it won't look too crafty and quilty.
So I am checking and double checking all my measurements before cutting this up. I think I have worked out a way to add a zippered compartment in place of some of the card slots. I mean really, what good is a wallet without a coin section? So back to spotlight tomorrow to buy a zip and little press-stud thingies.

the bag lady
At this rate I will quickly become the bag/purse lady. I stumbled upon this awesome tutorial for a quilted wallet to make purses like these. (perhaps not my choice of fabric but you get the idea).
I will have to start with the easy, simple tutorials and work my way up to this one as it looks a lot more difficult.
Hmmm... what colours will I use...

More Purses

Well I'm all inspired to sew now... and I've found another small SIMPLE project to try. These 'Keepsies' are so cute. Fingers crossed my headache clears before saturday so I can go to spotlight for some nice fabrics :)

Tutorial found

After an hour or so of searching with a lot of help and inspiration from Robyn, I found this tutorial. Not exactly what I wanted but very similar and will do the job. If it all falls into place, this will be my new promo item.

Funky Boxes

Definitely my next project. These boxes look very funky. I wonder how easy they are to cut out. I could pre-cut them and have them on standby at the fete. Being a mothers day fete, perhaps I could make these with plain white card, and the kiddies could colour them in before enclosing mums gift. Hmm this one needs more thought...

Something a little different

So instead of more jewellery, I will share with you one of my favourite pictures. This person is truly talented. These bunnies are so cute. I had a 2007 calendar of all of the images from the series. Some of them are a bit disturbed, but still adorable. Heres the calendar images: Lolita-Art

I'm back in the game
Thats right... I've got another fete coming up which means I have to get back to work and make some exciting new stuff to sell at the Cat Haven's fete. It was a great day last time - I made plenty of sales, and the haven raised a lot of money which is even better.
This one will be on 4 May so the concern now is the weather. But a little rain never hurt anyone.
